Fowlkes, Texas is a historical community near Electra in western Wichita County with no active business district today.
It originated as a railroad loading station and later became a quiet rural area.
Fowlkes was established in the early 1880s as a loading station on the Fort Worth and Denver City Railway.
Originally called Day Station, it was renamed after I.L. Fowlkes, a local landowner and cotton gin operator. While it once had a post office and a small school, the town never developed into a full commercial hub.
Today, Fowlkes is considered a rural residential area with no standalone businesses.
